About The Carpet Professor

Carpet Professor

Dear Homeowners,

I’ve spent my entire life in the Carpet and Floor Covering business, as did my father and his father too. My Uncle had a retail carpet store in Eugene Oregon for almost 40 years, my Aunt was a carpet mill rep serving the Honolulu area, and my Brother spent many years in the carpet business.

I have personally installed virtually every type of flooring imaginable and owned and operated a successful flooring sales and installation company for over 30 years. I am now retired and I don’t sell or install any flooring products anymore. I now enjoy educating homeowners how to choose new flooring wisely and how to avoid retail carpet scams and common consumer pitfalls. I do this freely as a public service and there is no charge or membership fee. whatsoever.

Back in the early 1990’s, I became alarmed at the large number of dishonest Carpet and Flooring Dealers I encountered. I found so many store owners and their hired and commissioned salespeople were willing to lie, deceive and cheat unsuspecting homeowners just to “close” the sale and make more profits.

In 1998 finally decided that I wanted to do something to make a difference and began educating homeowners about how to choose new carpet wisely, how to save the most money and how to avoid getting ripped off.

FYI: I will continue to help tens of thousands of homeowners annually and update my blog and website often.

Thank you for visiting and please feel free to email me at alan@abccarpets.com if you have any carpet questions!
